TIFFANY GOLD FAVRILE, DESSERT BOWL AND UNDER PLATE, EXCELLENT~~~

Description

For auction is a dessert bowl and under plate made by Tiffany Studios, New York. This is from my personal collection. The bowl is done in Tiffany's most highly collected Gold Favrile glass.  The Bowl when sitting in the plate stands 2 1/2" tall. The Bowl itself stands 2 1/8" tall and is 4 11/16" in diameter. The foot has a diameter of 1 1/2". The under plate stands 1 1/8" tall and has a diameter of 6". The foot of the under plate is 2" in diameter.
This bowl has a low deep form with a slightly flaring top lip. The under plate is shallow and round as well with its lip rising up along the outer edge. This combo would have worked for a small soup or berry bowl as well. The bowl and under plate displays a wonderful gold iridescent iridescence. You can see beautiful hues of platinum blues and strong fuchsia. The glass plate and bowl is very smooth the touch and feels similar to Steuben's Gold Aurene style of glass. It is part of the dessert bowls and plates made at Tiffany Studios for the Fancy Goods line.
This set is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings to the piece. There are a few minor small scratches but nothing obtrusive.
The bowl has a counter sunk polished pontil and is signed with an etched signature mark that reads, "L.C.T. Favrile" along the outer edge of the foot. Inside the polished pontil is the number "216". The plate also has a counter sunk polished pontil and an etched mark that reads, "L.C.T.". I firmly believe the "216" is the model number in Tiffany's Favrile line. I have seen the number "210" on the same ruffled salts for years and I'm quite sure it is the model or shape number.
Purchase with confidence as quality art glass especially of this size is becoming hard to find in excellent condition. This set is an outstanding example of this line from Tiffany Studios. This bowl and under plate was made circa 1900-1915.
