Jack Palance Script/Screen Play M Teasly 1996. Handwritten Notes By Palance.Jack Palance lived in Tehachapi California and had a home ranch there. Locals would see him from time to time in the stores or poetry reading events using his voice in prose and inspired the audience. It was pretty sad when he died. I went to his estate auction after he died and purchased art supplies and a roll top desk. Within that desk was a great deal of his personal effects. One of these items is the screenplay entitled “ghost dance“.
From what I gather, Jack wanted to use his ranch as a location for a film he was inspired to produce. It would of course star himself and be filmed in the Tehachapi mountains. Apparently his earlier roles as an American Indian was something he wanted to revisit.
One of my favorite notations that I found within the pages of the screenplay, with his complaining about the use of foul language and not being necessary to tell a good story. It would seem that the writer made the changes he requested. I’m not sure but it looks like the first draft and the second draft are within this group of screenplays/ 3 each in total.
The story seems to revolve around Jack as a man living on a ranch who pursued his passion as a painter of artwork. This is in fact the truth in Jack’s life as he enjoyed painting a great deal. At one time I actually had his easel that he worked with.
At some point the character in the film discovers that he has lived past lives as an American Indian. He can travel back-and-forth between the past and present and ultimately chooses to remain in the past with his Native American bride.
Personally I like the story. I wish he would’ve been able to make it before he died.
Now this is a once in a lifetime deal and find for somebody who is a serious collector of Jack‘s work. It’s condition is exactly the way that I found it in his desk about eight years ago. The pictures you see are exactly what you will receive.
Now I think I should state the obvious just for those who may not know differently. Owning a copy of a screenplay is different than owning of the rights of the story within it. (I would assume if somebody was interested in producing this they would need to deal with the writer and Jack’s estate. So as a media property for distribution I wouldn’t try and do it without dealing with them first.)
Feel free to contact me via eBay messaging and I will answer any questions that I can. Again this isn’t cheap, but it is original and irreplaceable to the serious collector.
